DIY Shutters 29/07/2022 11:29:50 AM
The term “shutter blinds" is a lot more widely used that it once was, but this can cause some confusion. “What are shutter blinds?” “Are they different from blinds?” “Should I get my own?” All good questions and, if you give us a few minutes, we will answer them all for you. Just keep reading…

What Are Shutter Blinds?

Shutter blinds are the exact same as plantation shutters. There is no difference at all. Plantation shutters, made-to-measure shutters, bespoke shutters, interior shutters, or shutter blinds – you can call them whatever you like, but they all serve the same function….to add a bit of wow to any window!

How Are Shutter Blinds Different From Blinds?

There are several features which set shutters and blinds apart. Firstly, shutters – or shutter blinds – are made from solid materials like hardwood, PVC, and MDF. At DIY Shutters, we deal exclusively in hardwood and PVC due to their superior quality. Blinds on the other hand are made from wood, plastic, metal, fabrics, and a range of other materials.

Another difference is that blinds hang in front of the window. Conversely, shutter blinds are fitted flush to your window – and they’re measured exactly to the millimeter too. This means that shutters are much more effective at regulating temperature. In the winter, they will keep out irksome drafts, while in the summer they block out the sun’s rays.  This helps keep your home at a nice temperature the whole year round.

Shutters are also much more versatile. Whether it’s Full Height, Café Style, or Tier-on-Tier shutters, you have lots of different options. And what’s more, with these different styles come differing levels of control over privacy and light management.

Shutters can be installed into any room in your home, including the lounge, kitchen and we even offer loft shutters. Our shutters are waterproof and long-lasting, making them perfect for any room.

Why Should I Get Shutter Blinds?

We could go on for days about the benefits of shutter blinds – they really are numerous. Firstly, they look amazing. But you already knew that. However, you may ask, “Is that all?” Well, no. Below, we’ve listed just a few of the perks of plantation shutters:
  • Improved insulation and ventilation
  • Light and privacy control
  • Sound proofing
  • Add value to your home
  • Extra security

Are Shutter Blinds Difficult to Install?
