When it comes to window dressings, there are many options to choose from. Curtains and blinds might be the first to spring to your mind, but what about made-to-measure shutters? In this quick blog entry, we’ll delve a little deeper into what they are, their options, and why they might just be the perfect choice for your home.
Made to Measure Shutters
So, what are made to measure shutters? Well, it’s in the name. They’re shutters that are made to the exact specifications of your window or door space. As such, you’ll be guaranteed a perfect fit every time, and unlike other window dressings, they’ll fit totally flush to your windows. Not only will this look great, but it will also improve your energy efficiency of your home. That’s because they’re excellent for negating heat lost through the windows. But that’s not all…
The Benefits of Shutters
Made to measure shutters have a whole range of benefits beyond their aesthetic merits. Firstly, their movable slats make them excellent for managing light and privacy. Next, they offer a truly timeless design and won’t go out of style. Thirdly, they require next to no maintenance and are very easy to clean. And if you go for our Faux Wood shutters, you’ll have a shutter that’s 100% waterproof – perfect for kitchens and bathrooms! Plus, made to measure shutters cost much less than you think. By going down the DIY route, you could save upwards of 40% against other measure and install services. However, their biggest benefit might be their versatility….
Shutter Styles
We have three different styles for you to choose from, each with their own perks. Full Height shutters cover the entirety of the window, making them ideal for small and medium-sized recesses, but also suitable for larger ones too. Conversely, Café Style shutters are fitted only to the bottom section of the window. This can be half but is also totally customisable. Café shutters are great for those rooms in which you’d like some extra light but still want your privacy. For the best of both worlds, our Tier-On-Tier shutters are the way to go. They cover the window from top to bottom, but their split panels mean you can control the top and bottom sections entirely independently.
Our Materials
At DIY Shutters, we offer two different materials: Hardwood and Faux Wood. Our Hardwood shutters are made from lightweight paulownia, making them incredibly adaptable and perfect for larger windows. Then there’s our Faux Wood: waterproof, durable, and shipped from our UK factory in as quick as 7-10 working days. Yes, you read that right! So, if you need your shutters in a hurry, these are just what you’re looking for.
