Does your house suffer from a serious case of SWS? Oh, sorry. It stands for Skinny Window Syndrome. If so, you won’t need us to tell you how difficult slim windows can be to dress. Luckily, we have a wealth of experience in making all sort of shutters, including tall and slim window shutters. So, if you’ve got a couple of minutes to spare, give this short guide a quick read to discover how DIY Shutters can help solve your skinny window worries.
Slim Window Shutters
One of the biggest issues with dressing slim windows with other dressings such as curtains or blinds is that you run the risk of completely obscuring them. This is of course fine if that’s the goal, but if you want to celebrate your smaller windows and position them as a central fixture, slim window shutters offer the perfect solution. With our bespoke plantation shutters, you’ll have a dressing that’s custom made to the exact dimensions of your window, guaranteeing you a perfect fit. Besides their tidy finish, this will also work to block drafts and keep the heat in in the colder months. It's also worth noting that we can shutter windows as skinny as 260mm.
Slim Window Shutter Styles
One of the best things about shutters is their versatility. We sell a range of plantation shutter styles, so you’re sure to find the right set for your windows. Full height shutters cover all the window from top to bottom, while café style shutters cover the bottom half only. As such, café style shutters are perfect for maintaining privacy while still allowing plenty of light into your rooms. For a compromise between these two contrasting styles, our tier-on-tier shutters cover the entire window and consist of separate top and bottom sections. These can be operated independently so you can have the entire window covered, half-covered, or not at all.
Fitting Slim Window Shutters
You might be thinking to yourself that this all sounds a bit complicated and involved. In fact, fitting your own made-to-measure shutters is surprisingly easy. All you need is a tape measure, pencil, drill, spirit level, and a Phillip’s head screwdriver. And to make things even simpler, our easy to follow measure and installation guides are viewable on our website. Be sure to check them out before you carry out your initial measurements.
